John Tank Celebrates 75 Years with a Birthday Jazz Jam"

John Tank a New York based musician who hails from Kitchener assembles veterans of the jazz scene for his 75th birthday celebration.  On tenor saxophone & flute is John Tank himself, trumpet & flugelhorn the sizzling Kevin Turcotte, tinkling the ivories on piano is none other than Bernie Senensky, plucking the string bass is Jim Vivian and finally hittin' the skins is Ted “Angus” Warren. Playing classics such as “My Romance” - Richard Rogers, “O Grande Amor” - Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Theme For Maxine” - Woody Shaw, “Dolphin Dance” - Herbie Hancock, “Peace” - Horace Silver as well as a number of his own originals, John delights the ear.

Michael Kelly Cavan is a rare gem

Michael finds inspiration in his immigrant family experience as well as his life growing up in Northern Ontario.  He writes in the Irish and Canadian folk music traditions. His lyrics evoke clearly defined imagery and his melodic tenor voice sounds reminiscent of country artist John Denver.  He has graced the stages of Massey Hall, the El Mocambo, the Horseshoe Tavern, Hugh's Room and various other venues far and wide.  Taped March 9, 2017 at the Registry Theatre.

John turned the spotlight on the great composers of jazz, including Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Charlie Haden, and more. Once again, John brought with him Canada’s very best jazz musicians, Don Thompson piano, Dave Young bass, Terry Clarke drums, and trumpeter Kevin Turcotte whose playing can be heard in the new Chet Baker movie, Born To Be Blue. Plus special guest cellist Ben Bolt-Martin.

On February 10, 2012, Kevin Ramessar performed with his band at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener, featuring a tribute to Neil Young's 1972 "Harvest" album. Joining him were Mike Janzen, piano, Mark MacIntyre, bass and Giampaolo Scattozzam, drums. It was a special evening, and Kevin's inspired interpretations of Neil's classic songs were well received!
